Alex Saucedo has received two nominations from parents who wanted to recognize the compassionate care that he provided to their families.
One mother stated: "When my son became upset, Alex was able to calm him down and distract him. He is a great nurse. He engaged him in interesting conversation until he was calm and compliant. My son stated 'I really like that guy, he's cool'. That is a big compliment from my son who hates all things hospital related. Alex had a special way of working with my adolescent son."
Another parent wrote: "Alex is an angel. He showed our family compassion when we were at our weakest. I was on the brink of breaking down multiple times, but his encouragement and kindness was my foundation to lean upon. His care of my infant was superb and his ability to comfort is impressive. He gives us hope when we need it. Every request for help was performed with a smile and he offered help so often it was a relief. Alex cared for the whole family with respect and professionalism. He exemplifies the qualities CHKD strives to achieve. Thank you for Alex."
Alex's manager validated these comments with these words: "I was not surprised Alex was nominated for a DAISY Award. I first met Alexander at the first CHKD job fair. He immediately stuck out from the rest of his colleagues. When speaking to him, it was clear that Alex was driven, possessed great communication skills and had a deep love for nursing. Alexander is a resourceful and a hard working team player. He rises to any occasion and is always willing to lend his helping hands. Alex has great initiative and a positive 'can do' attitude."
