Lexi was caring for a patient in the ED being admitted for COVID-19. During her interactions with her patient, Lexi found out the patient's brother was also admitted with COVID-19 in our BCU. Unfortunately, the brother was not doing well and the family decided to withdraw care. Typically due to isolation precautions, family visitation is restricted when they pass away. Even though Lexi is a newer nurse, she went above and beyond by making arrangements for her patient to sit at her brother's bedside while he was dying. She showed a great amount of compassion during an emotionally and physically trying time for her patient. I know her patient will be forever grateful for Lexi's care that day!
