Aside from her managing the staff, adding new ways to make the rehab unit work, and trying great things to retain and even thank and notice staff, she really cares about our well-being.
I am so excited that this is a “thing!” I’ve wanted to recognize my unit manager for quite some time now and this is perfect. Alex deserves to be recognized as a good leader.
For a few months, she has had to manage our unit without any ANM working under her. Not only has Alex done a good job managing the unit “alone” but she’s also always trying to implement new and effective ways to whip the rehab unit into shape. I think she has good ideas and accepts when some aren’t so good. She listens to her staff and really takes into consideration our thoughts and ideas. I haven’t been with AHN a full year yet she treats me as if I am irreplaceable. I, like many others, she included, have had a difficult year and to ensure, I can be there for my family as well as maintain my full-time status, she’s helped me come up with solutions or alternatives. As my manager, Alex doesn’t have to “care” what goes on in our personal lives but I truly feel like she does. She takes the title of leader to the top and the unit is lucky to have her in our corner. Alex is a true DAISY Nurse Leader.
