Thank you, Alexandra, for providing such amazing compassionate calm care for both us and my father during such a difficult moment.
I only had the pleasure of meeting Alexandra once, but she really made an impression on me, and I want to celebrate her. She was caring for my father in the COVID unit when he passed away. Thankfully, my mother, sister, brother-in-law, and I were able to be there in the room with him (he was off precautions by that point in his admission).

Alexandra took great gentle care of my father as she helped unhook the different monitors, removed his feeding tube, and switched him from his bi-pap mask to a regular nasal cannula. She then stayed in the room with us, with him, until the end. I remember her standing beside me every now and then, rubbing his feet and legs in a soothing way. Comforting us. Staying calm and compassionate. I remember once commenting that this probably wasn't her first death and she said yes it wasn't her first, but they never get easier. It wasn't until later that I learned that she was a recent graduate and hire - I had no idea she wasn't a seasoned nurse! Thank you, Alexandra, for providing such amazing compassionate calm care for both us and my father during such a difficult moment. I will forever remember you and your quiet kindness. I know these times have been incredibly difficult, but the work that you are doing is so very important both to your patients and their families. Please keep up the hard work and don't lose that compassion. You are such an asset to Sentara.

My mom was sick with covid so I couldn’t be there. We were video chatting and I said to Allie, “Thank you for being there for me,” and she said, “It is my privilege and honor to be here for you.” I cried thankful for her love and compassion for her job. My mom had a bad episode at the end of Allie’s shift, and she stayed with her to make sure she was okay.
