Alex went above and beyond for a patient that could have been marked as difficult and hard to care for. She showed exceptional compassion and empathy for the patient and did everything she could to ensure patient comfort. She is supportive of her support staff and shows true caring and compassion for those around her while adhering to protocol and setting high standards of care. Alex sat at the bedside with a patient withdrawing from substances and did everything in her power to make them comfortable. She showed a true understanding of the patient's situation and educated appropriately.
She interacted with the family as a true professional and really set a very high example of nursing care. Alex put herself into the patient's situation and tried to understand what the patient and family were going through. She set firm boundaries in a polite and respectable manner while still showing compassion and kindness throughout the entire shift.
Alex is a well-rounded nurse, she goes above and beyond clinically, holistically and is highly knowledgeable. Alex is a truly exceptional nurse, her caring and compassion show no limits. She is an excellent role model for other staff members and deserves to be recognized for her exceptional care and dedication to her patients no matter what their psychosocial situations are.
