February 2023 Honoree
Alexandra Matsis, RN, BSN
In December I learned that I had brain and lung cancer. This news came as a shock and the last 2 plus weeks have been quite an ordeal. At the end of December, I had a Lexall Stereotactic Brain Biopsy. I was fortunate to have Alex there to care for me post-surgery. She was everything one would hope for in a nurse. She knew her stuff, she was kind and caring in everything she did, and she went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and cared for. She not only treated me with the utmost respect, but she also treated my husband and our 3 sons equally so. Alex's demeanor and her upbeat personality helped to raise my spirits and definitely made a positive difference in my recovery. We thanked Alex for her wonderful care, and she replied she "was just doing her job". Alex certainly did do her job but the way she did it was what makes her such an exceptional and noteworthy nurse.
Thank you, Alexandra, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
