My fears were greatly decreased and they were for my husband, too. I was able to relax and focus on what was needed for the moment.
I had been sick and started to feel short of breath. I was very scared. I came to Seton ER in the evening. I didn’t have to wait long before I was placed in an exam room. Alex, my nurse, came very quickly and introduced herself to my husband and me. I was scared because I was breathing so hard and fast and getting weaker and weaker. Alex assured me that what I was concerned about could be fixed. She continued to check on me regularly and made sure the curtain to the exam room was open so she could see me. She quickly got labs drawn and sent off and shortly told me the results. Alex respected my knowledge level since I am a retired RN. Once she told me my lab results and that I needed blood, she was right on top of it. She assured me that she was continuing to check and see if the blood was ready. She even told me that as soon as it was ready she would personally go and pick it up. She explained everything to me. As I continued to worry and bring up more concerns, Alex would just say this is something that can be fixed. My fears were greatly decreased and they were for my husband, too. I was able to relax and focus on what was needed for the moment. She did an awesome job getting me a room on the 4th floor and transported me quickly. Alex is an amazing nurse. I highly respect her level of knowledge. Her compassion for me that night was such a blessing. I was so scared and she helped alleviate that fear. I am so grateful she was my nurse that night.
