Alexandra Pearsall, RN
I would like to nominate my coworker Alexandra Pearsall for a DAISY Award for the compassion, strength, and professionalism she showed during one of the most difficult situations imaginable.
We were called to assist with obtaining IV access to a 19-day-old infant. While they were actively performing CPR, neither one of us worked in areas where we would normally face this type of trauma, and honestly, neither of us was prepared for the emotional weight of that moment. Despite that, she never faltered. She immediately stepped in, focused on what needed to be done.
In the middle of an incredibly heartbreaking and highly stressful situation, she remained calm, composed, and professional. She provided the support the team needed and did everything possible for that baby without hesitation.
What stood out most to me was her ability to push through the emotion of the situation while still showing compassion and grace. Even afterward, the weight of the experience stayed with us, but at that moment, she showed incredible strength and dedication to patient care.
I will never forget the way she handled that situation, and I truly believe she represents everything that the DAISY Award stands for.
