Alexandra went above and beyond to make sure her patient had an excellent experience at the Cleveland Clinic. She was so grateful for the care she received from Alexandra. The patient was in the hospital on her 4-year-old son's birthday. The patient emphasized how sad she was to be missing the celebrations of his birthday since she is in the hospital. The patient expressed how birthdays are such a big deal in their household and how she hopes that he understands. Luckily enough the patient had Alexandra as her nurse that day. Alexandra went above and beyond and contacted Child Life Services to help us throw her son a birthday party right in her hospital room. The room was filled with balloons, streamers, party hats, bubbles and even birthday presents for the child! When the child arrived you could hear his enthusiasm from down the hall, he was so surprised. Once the family got settled in the room H60 staff got together with a little birthday cake and ice cream from the pantry and sang Happy Birthday to him. After the child's 'Birthday Party' the patient and her mother expressed how truly grateful they were to have staff that went above and beyond to not only make the patient happy but the family as well. This day would not have been so special for the child and his family without Alexandra. On top of all her nursing responsibilities for the day and caring for 3 other patients, Alexandra still made sure things were in place to celebrate the child's 4th birthday! Later that evening the patient told the PCNA that this would be a birthday he would remember forever.
