There was a patient who needed help writing a letter and I watched Alex go into this lady's room and stay for over 30 minutes to help her with it.
Alex is such an extraordinary nurse, she always goes above and beyond for anyone she's around and that includes both patients and staff. She's very smart and a very quick thinker. I have watched her pick up on our floor anytime that there is a need and that has included charging from time to time. Just Sunday night she volunteered to pick up and charge after the ANM called out and she had to take patients herself which most of the time the charge doesn't have patients. We had a very busy shift and she really did all she could to make it go smoother. We had a patient fall and she was one of the first people there helping. There was also another patient who needed help writing a letter and I watched Alex go into this lady's room and stay for over 30 minutes to help her with it. Also in this same shift as the fall and the lady needing help with the letter, Alex, who was in charge and had her own patients, had a patient whose results came back not so great and this was almost at shift change right before the time for huddle. Alex still took the time to go talk to her patient about everything that was going on and call the doctor, she did not put it off until afterward or get someone else to do it, she did it herself and that is the kind of stuff that I have watched her do every shift that I have worked with her. She really is the epitome of an Extraordinary Nurse here at Baptist.
Thank you, Alexandra, for all you do for our patients and families!
