In August 2022, my husband and I were at CarolinaEast for the birth of our first child. We had absolutely no idea what to expect and were understandably very anxious about the entire process. After being induced, it was quickly decided that due to the rapid drop in the baby's heart rate, an emergency C-section was needed. The entire day was an absolute blur, but I clearly remember arriving at our postpartum room and being greeted by Alex and her welcoming face! Alex was our nurse throughout our stay and we were beyond blessed. Her patience was incredible and always made us feel like we were the most special people in the unit. Alex gave our baby her first bath, calmed me during feeding struggles, and even taught us how to swaddle. To this day, we still aspire to swaddle as well as Alex! On the last day of our stay, our baby's temperature suddenly dropped and Alex was there to support us every step of the way. She sprang into action and immediately started offering solutions. As new parents, it was quite a frightening experience, but Alex maintained her composure, stayed positive, and quickly got our baby's temperature back to normal. Our experience was incredible in that we welcomed our baby girl into the world, but it was even more memorable knowing that we had the absolute best nurse by our side every day. There is no doubt in my mind that Alex has found her calling in helping people. This line of work is certainly not for everyone and I am incredibly thankful that there are people in this world like Alex that truly want to help, serve, and support others!
