November 2024 Honoree
Alexandria M Bergevine, BSN, RN, CCRN
My elderly mom was sent from Kentucky to Barnes after very scary, careless, and preventable things happened at our local hospital. I didn’t feel safe leaving my mother’s side, and I didn’t sleep for days so I could watch over her. She almost didn’t make it out of there, and she ended up in the ICU. As silly as it sounds, as soon as we met Alex, I knew my mother would be safe here. She just had a presence that made us feel like we could trust her. On top of her sweet personality, she’s also very skilled! She put in the quickest and most painless IV in my mom after other people tried and missed. Alex even advocated to accommodate both me and my brother staying the night since we were from out of state. I knew my mother was finally in good hands, and despite her insisting we could stay, we felt more than comfortable going to a hotel. While the trip was very stressful for all of us, Alex eased all our concerns and took the best care of her. We all got some much-needed sleep, and we are so thankful she was our nurse!
Thank you, Alexandria M, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
