Because of Alexis, I felt supported, respected, and genuinely cared for during my stay. Her compassion left a lasting impression
I am honored to nominate Alexis Martinez for the DAISY Award for the care she provided while I was hospitalized on the MedSurg floor.
From the very beginning, Alexis created an environment of safety and reassurance. Hospital stays can feel overwhelming and impersonal, but her warmth and intentional kindness made a meaningful difference in my experience. She was attentive without being rushed, compassionate without being performative, and consistently present in a way that brought peace during an uncertain time.
Alexis didn’t just care for my medical needs—she cared for me as a person. Whether through her gentle communication, her patience, or her anticipation of needs before I had to ask, she showed a level of empathy that cannot be taught. It was clear that nursing is not just her profession, but her calling.
Because of Alexis, I felt supported, respected, and genuinely cared for during my stay. Her compassion left a lasting impression, and I believe she represents the very heart of what nursing stands for.
