I would like to nominate a very special nurse for the DAISY Foundation Award for the incredible compassion, dignity, and care she gave our mom during the hardest moments of our lives.

After we were told our mom was brain dead, our family was devastated and heartbroken. Through every tear, every difficult conversation, and every painful moment, this nurse treated our mom with such kindness, respect, and love. She never made us feel rushed. She explained things gently, comforted our family, and cared for our mom as if she were her own family member.

Even when there was little hope left, she continued to speak to our mom with compassion, keep her comfortable, and make sure she was treated with dignity. She gave our family strength during unimaginable grief and helped bring peace to such a heartbreaking situation. We will never forget the care, patience, and empathy she showed us during the final days of our mom’s life. Nurses like her are truly angels on earth, and she deserves recognition for the difference she made in our family’s lives forever.

I would like to nominate Alexis Buddlemeyer for the extraordinary compassion and care she showed my wife during her final moments in the ICU.

During the most painful and difficult time of my life, she treated my wife with incredible dignity, kindness, and respect. She made sure she was comfortable, cared for, and never alone. Every interaction showed genuine compassion, not only toward my wife, but toward our entire family.

What meant the most was the calmness and humanity she brought into the room. She spoke gently, explained things clearly, and gave us support when we felt overwhelmed and heartbroken. Her presence brought peace during a moment that will stay with me forever.

Because of this nurse, my wife’s final moments were surrounded by comfort, dignity, and compassion. I will never forget the care she gave us, and I truly believe she represents the very best of nursing. I am deeply grateful for everything she did for my wife and our family.

I would like to nominate Alexis for the incredible care, compassion, and dignity she showed my mother and our family during the final moments of her life.

During one of the hardest times in our lives, she went far beyond medical care. She treated my mother with kindness, patience, and respect, making sure she was comfortable and never alone. Alexis explained things gently, checked on our family often, and showed genuine compassion in every interaction.

What stood out most was the way she cared not only for my mother, but for all of us. In moments filled with fear and heartbreak, she brought calmness, reassurance, and humanity. Her presence gave us comfort we will never forget.

Because of this nurse, my mother’s final moments were peaceful and filled with dignity. Our family will always remember the love and care she showed when we needed it most. She truly represents what nursing is all about, and we are forever grateful.

Alexis did such an amazing job taking care of my grandma and my whole family. She is just the kindest human ever. Took her time braiding my grandma's hair so it wouldn’t get tangled. Took her time getting to know the whole family and our story behind everything. She took her time and didn’t rush or try to sugarcoat things and just told us straight how things were going and what was happening. Always kept us in the loop and updated us on the smallest things. We all appreciate how well she did with everything. Couldn’t have asked for a better nurse.
