While getting ready to take a lunch break, Alexis answered the phone at the nurse's station. The caller was a woman who said she was struggling with life and needed help. She was asking for help to try to prevent harming herself. Alexis stayed on the phone with her obtaining information, talking to her, and being supportive. In the meantime, she was able to get her phone number and address. Alexis asked another staff member to call 911 and send the police to the woman's house. Alexis continued to stay on the phone with her until the woman told her the police were at the door. Alexis even had the presence of mind to ask the woman to give the phone to the police so that she could confirm for herself that help had arrived and the woman would be safe.
