I underwent an amputation of my left leg above the ankle, midway to the knee. My oldest son was with me and helped to uplift my spirits. Due to the blocks I was in no real pain but was melancholy. Alexis arrived and her joyful enthusiasm was contagious, and soon my fears were diminished. The next evening the blocks wore off and I had genuinely bad pain. The prescribed pain meds were ineffective. Alexis went numerous times to “plead my case” and would bring more meds. She impressed me so much with her genuine concern for my well-being and that she would fight on my behalf. She, in my opinion, is a great example of a professional and should be recognized.
