What gives me the most peace when I leave every day is knowing she is there loving on my child and supporting the development.
This has been my child’s primary NICU nurse for over 2 months, and she has given us confidence that our child is being well taken care of from Day 1. When our child had recurrent apnea that wasn't resolving, she took it upon herself to talk to multiple doctors, specialists and other nurses to brainstorm solutions. She advocated getting our child on the primary care team so he would have doctors more familiar with the case. She educated me as a parent and gave me the confidence to make decisions about care - and now the apnea is largely resolved. My child has been in the NICU for more than 100 days, and what gives me the most peace when I leave every day is knowing she is there loving on my child and supporting the development. I can't tell you how many times I've walked in to see her holding my child in the rocking chair while charting with her other hand. She is a truly excellent nurse, and we feel so blessed to have her taking care of our child. The night before surgery, she wrote me a letter that was so comforting to read. She even prepared a written summary of the history so that any nurse or doctor unfamiliar with the case would have a quick reference. Thank you!
