She was definitely called by God to her profession in my opinion. My 87 year old father was admitted in the middle of the night to 3rd floor with sepsis. Not only was he hallucinating, frightened, and angry, he also has dementia. My dad was a patient on 3rd floor for around 10 days and Lexie cared for him every day she was scheduled throughout that period of time. Lexie was absolutely amazing with someone who was out of sorts and not always pleasant, especially with the COVID craziness that was going on- isolated, without visitors, disoriented, etc. She always entered his room with a smile, got to know his routine, what he liked to talk about, what his early days were like, what he enjoyed and most importantly always included him whether he knew it or not. My family and I were always at ease when we knew Lexie was his nurse. Although he didn't probably realize it, they connected for some reason. With this being said, Lexie always went above and beyond to make my dad comfortable and feel less anxious. She treated my dad, my family, and myself like we were hers. Penn Highlands is so blessed to be able to call Lexie one of their superheroes. Lexie, you were definitely a blessing to us and our Dad. You are a true superhero in scrubs and an angel on earth.
Thank you for being you, for being an exceptional nurse, and most of all for taking such awesome care of my sometimes not so cooperative Dad. Because of you, he transitioned well to his new environment, and you, either directly or indirectly, impacted my entire family, but most especially my dad.
Dealing with Dementia and Alzheimer's disease during these COVID times is certainly not easy and you did it with ease, with a smile, and most of all in a highly professional manner.
Lexie- thank you, thank you, and thank you. My dad has since passed and we still can't thank you enough for being so caring during his time in the hospital.
