I cannot say one specific time Alexis has gone above and beyond for her patients and coworkers, there are simply too many instances to speak of. My personal favorite is the time she same in on Christmas as extra staff to help discharge patients to get them home to celebrate with their loved ones. There have been multiple times she has come in at 11am to help staff the daylight shift when she was not on the schedule until 3pm because she knew the patients would be better taken care with a full set of staff. Her patient attitude consoles patients, easing their anxiety almost daily. Alexis goes shifts without food to make sure her patients get what they need, she always puts her patients first. I think the most important thing Alexis does while working is putting herself "in their shoes", at all times. She tries her best to discharge patients as soon as possible, calling doctors multiple times, doing everything she can. She advocates for her patients. When her patients are in pain she fights to get their pain controlled, she truly cares. She makes sure her patients do not lay in bed all day, especially her post-op patients. Her charting is always on point. She has oriented and trained multiple new nurses on the unit. Alexis is always happy to train a nursing student and nurses are always looking to her for advice and help even when she is not in charge. Alexis is knowledgeable, always willing to answer any question staff, patient or patient's family may have. She is accommodating to family members, offering beverages, blankets, pillows etc. her kindness, patience, and hard work have made her a true asset to the healthcare community. As a nursing student, I aspire to be half the nurse Alexis is.
