I would like to recognize this nurse for her passion in making a difference in her patients' lives. I recently learned that this nurse has helped two patients find funding for a year for medications they could not afford, upwards of $2000 per month. These medications were the last medication options in their treatment plan. These patients are so grateful for her kindness and care, going above and beyond for them. I also witnessed a patient interaction with this nurse that brought tears to my eyes. The patient was a regular in the Day Hospital. He had recently been hospitalized and had just been discharged. He requested that his discharge nurse take him to the Day Hospital so that he could "Say Hello" to Alexis and let her know that he was okay. As I watched the two interact and talk, I could just tell by the look in his eyes and the smile on his face when he saw her how much her care meant to him. This nurse has shown commitment to those she serves by taking care of the physical patient and their emotional needs, getting to know them on a personal level, and taking care of them just as if they were her family.
