My dad didn’t remember her, but my family and I did. She was our first impression of this hospital, and we all felt relieved he was here.
Alexis was assigned to my dad when he was admitted to the CVICU after having open heart surgery and going to rehab. Four days into rehab he couldn’t breathe. He was brought over to Freeman West and it was determined he had bleeding and a white cell count of 211,000! He had to be sedated and intubated. Alexis took such good care of him. She was also assigned to him the next day (Saturday). Sunday she was not but she still popped in to check on him and me. She was kind to my dad, and she was kind to me. Care is all about the patient, but for the loved ones sitting there watching their loved ones, it means the world for the nurses, doctors, and staff to acknowledge those in the room and provide what updates they can, even if it’s no update, just being told that is at least something. Alexis did this. My dad didn’t remember her, but my family and I did. She was our first impression of this hospital, and we all felt relieved he was here. She also popped back in on Thursday when she was back on shift, said hi, and gave him encouragement. It’s compassion and genuine caring that provide the best care to patients and their families, praying they recover. Thank you, Alexis!
