Alexis is the absolute epitome of a compassionate nurse!
Alexis should 100% be honored and receive this award!  We have had many hospital stays and have never received the exemplary, kind, caring, attentive level of care that we received from Alexis.  We were almost on a flight home to Pittsburgh when J became very ill and landed at your hospital.  Alexis and the other nurses made what was a nightmare into a bearable situation.  Alexis cared for my mother, who was essentially homeless like she was a family member.  Alexis always had a smile and was so patient with us.  She carefully and considerably answered all questions, and we had so many.  She is the absolute epitome of a compassionate nurse!  If God forbid me or any of my friends/family end up here, I/we want Alexis.

Let me start by saying my stay here did not start out in a good place.  Once I got to my room, all that changed.  Alexis has been a breath of fresh air.  She has been instrumental in turning around my experience at Sentara Leigh.  She is very proficient and professional in her duties with an upbeat, fun personality.  No matter what I have needed she has done an amazing job taking care of me.  I greatly appreciate that.  She has also been a favorite of my mother, and she’s a tough critic.  Nurses like Alexis are the heartbeat of the hospital.  They are often overwhelmed, but she handles it well and with grace.  So it would be my pleasure to nominate Alexis, Harley Quinn as I like to call her, for the DAISY Award!!!

Alexis went above and beyond.  She looked up my numbers, and it helped me so much during a stressful miscommunication.  (Not Sentara Leigh’s fault) She was always right on it whenever I needed something.  She even brought me antibacterial bath wipes due to my low immunity.  Sentara Leigh nurses are all wonderful.  I was a nurse for 28 years before my MS diagnosis, and I am so happy to see that there are still caring nurses like Alexis.  Thank you so much for your wonderful care.  It will not be forgotten.
