July 2025 Honoree
Alexis P Abernathy-Hobson, ASN, RN
Alexis is our literal Reid angel. My father was admitted and being monitored in the ICU when he suffered a very sudden and unexpected cardiac arrest. Because of Alexis’ quick thinking and reaction, we did not lose him for long. She was very humble, but she did, in fact, save my dad’s life. It was the very end of her shift, but she stayed to talk to our family and offer us words of encouragement, and let us know they got him back. She has been so kind and informative throughout our stay. I just don’t see how she couldn’t be the recipient of this award after everything she has done for our family these last couple of days, and continues to do now as our stay continues. Everyone has been great in the ICU, but Alexis is exceptional.
Even after my dad was moved to a different room, we asked the nurse there if Alexis was on shift because he was finally awake after a week on the ventilator. She came by, and my sister was there with my dad, and she said it was a very emotional moment. My dad wanted the opportunity to thank her for saving his life. We just loved her.

Thank you, Alexis P, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
