Our grandfather was in the ICU for about 11 days after a fall in which he hit his head and suffered a brain bleed. He was almost 90 years old, but we were still unprepared for the possibility of losing him. Nurse Alexis was one of the bright spots during this tough time. She went above and beyond to ensure my grandpa was comfortable, answering all our questions and providing us with support. Toward the end, when it became clear that my grandfather would not survive much longer, she was often there to check on us. She asked if we wanted his wife—our grandmother—to see him before he passed, and she helped coordinate for her visit since she was in a rehabilitation hospital. My grandmother expressed her gratitude for being able to see him one last time, and we are incredibly thankful that Alexis was there to make him comfortable and advocate for my grandmother's visit.
