From her dedication to patient-centered care to her strong sense of empathy, Alexis Rogers is a true example of outstanding leadership in nursing.
Alexis Rogers exemplifies what it means to be a compassionate and effective leader. Over her time at South Florida Baptist Hospital, she has continuously demonstrated dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to both her patients and her team. Since she joined the hospital more than two years ago, Alexis has transformed the Emergency Department, enhancing workflows to benefit both the staff and the patients. Her unique ability to problem-solve and ensure accountability, while always keeping patient and team interests at the forefront, has made her a respected leader and an invaluable asset to our hospital.

In every interaction, Alexis leads by example, always willing to step into any role to support her team. Whether it’s moving a patient, working as Charge Nurse, covering lunch breaks, cleaning rooms, or listening to a team member's concerns, Alexis makes herself available at all times. She encourages open and honest communication and makes each team member feel valued and included. From celebrating birthdays to acknowledging team achievements, Alexis cultivates a welcoming, supportive environment. Her approach to leadership is consistent and inspiring, setting a standard all leaders should strive for.

I first met Alexis in 2011, when she was a nurse in the ED. Even then, she demonstrated a dedication to patient safety and a genuine willingness to support her co-workers. Today, as Nurse Manager, her passion and commitment remain unmatched. During Hurricane Milton, for example, she made her department’s welfare her priority, staying at the hospital alongside her team, providing not only logistical support but also emotional reassurance. Even with minimal rest, she maintained her positive demeanor, showing her team they were not alone in their worries.

For those new to the team, such as myself, Alexis has made the transition seamless. I came to South Florida Baptist from out of state in 2022, feeling nervous in a new place. Alexis went out of her way to make me feel welcome and supported, transforming my apprehension into a sense of belonging. Her support extends beyond professional concern; after my grandmother passed away, Alexis reached out with condolences, showing genuine care. Her open-door policy and approachability are matched by her commitment to balancing work-life needs for her staff.

Time and again, Alexis has demonstrated servant leadership, putting her team first and showing a remarkable ability to lead under pressure. She steps in whenever the department is short-staffed, often working nights and weekends to support the team. Her openness for suggestions is exemplified by her collaboration on the layout of the new ED, actively seeking input from staff. She has earned the respect of peers, physicians, and her team alike for her ability to address issues head-on and foster positive interdepartmental relationships.

From her dedication to patient-centered care to her strong sense of empathy, Alexis Rogers is a true example of outstanding leadership in nursing. Her work impacts not only the Emergency Department but also the morale and cohesion of the entire hospital team. Alexis embodies the BayCare mission and values, and I wholeheartedly nominate her for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.
