Alexis is one of our new graduate nurses on our unit and her compassion for the patients has been second to none. She recently had a patient that unfortunately received a terminal injury and the family had to make some tough decisions. They asked that we wait to remove care until the following day as to allow family time to get in town. Alexis came to me privately and asked to come in on her day off as to care for this patient since she had built such a rapport with the family. We were able to move the family to a private unit and she took care of them until her passing. I felt she went above and beyond to make sure this family felt supported all the way through this difficult time and I’m proud of her true nursing heart.

When my brother was in a motorcycle accident, we flew from Chicago to be with him. Alexis displayed examples of trust, compassion, respect integrity, advocacy, collaboration, autonomy, exemplary, innovation knowledge, research, professional development, quality outcomes, shared leadership, evidence-based practice, synergy, and more. I never felt so comfortable and calm dealing with a nurse. She was understanding, informative, kind, and overall, a great nurse. Especially, having to fly from states away we had no idea what to expect, and seeing him was hard. She took the time to explain everything in great detail. Words can't explain how Alexis made us all feel. May she continue with the way she treats people for as many years as she chooses.
