She is confident, knowledgeable, concerned, and very caring. Her positivity guided me through each day and made this unexpected and difficult hospitalization better than I could have anticipated.
I was in the hospital for the third partial bowel obstruction this year. Usually, after 2-3 days with an NG tube, it resolves. However, my condition was not improving and my surgeon said he would order an x-ray. That was about 11:30 am The at 2:30 pm Alexys passed by, walking in the hallway. She said there was no test ordered. She immediately sent out a message to the doctor. I was very upset because I was having pain and was putting my hope that the test would help with the treatment plan. Alexys assured me she would help and this comforted me. A little while later, she brought in 3 bottles of CAT scan prep and 1 bottle of water. The order was never placed by the doctor but after Alexys communicated with him and a STAT CT Scan was ordered. She told me that all 3 bottles and water had to be put down the NG tube in 1 hour. The NG tube was so uncomfortable with a very bad sore throat, and Alexys apologized that this process had to be done. She began pouring the prep in, and told me that it was a possibility I may vomit. The prep was completed just as the transport came to get me. The results showed that I needed abdominal surgery right away. I have to attribute the success of the procedure and my great overall care to Alexys. She is an Extraordinary Nurse in so many ways. She is confident, knowledgeable, concerned, and very caring. Her positivity guided me through each day and made this unexpected and difficult hospitalization better than I could have anticipated. In a perfect world, I would have had Alexys as my nurse every day.
