June 2020 Honoree
ali koch, RN, BSN
I was a patient at Northwestern's Behavioral Unit for my anxiety. On the second day, I had one of the worst panic attacks I have ever had. I couldn't control my muscles and I was vomiting in the shower on my knees. Ali calmed me down enough so I could cover-up in a towel. Then she helped me to my bed. She got my meds and did breathing exercises until I could fall asleep. I've never gotten over an attack as fast and I've never had someone go so far as to help me through an attack. I'm getting choked up writing this. I am very thankful for her and I still use her breathing techniques today. She made it easy to get better and to ask for help. I will always be grateful.
Thank you, Ali, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
