Alice Andere jumped into action on an actively choking patient during mealtime. Alice was witnessed by several during the chaos of the event. She showed no hesitation. She knew exactly what to do and was able to assist the patient in dislodging the obstruction before the BRRT team arrived. Witnesses said she was like a “superwoman” at that moment when she jumped into action. Sure, she was doing what she was trained to do, but choking isn’t a common event during a patient’s stay. Her remaining calm helped not only the patient but also everyone surrounding the patient. That is only one example of how Alice is ready for anything. Alice works in the float pool, takes on every day with a grateful heart, and wears many hats. People often comment on how they know they can count on Alice for help, guidance, and understanding. Alice puts her full heart and strength into her work and her patients. When asking patients about their care, they will always say, “You got a good one here.” We know that Bryan is lucky to call Alice one of their own.
