Her approachable demeanor and compassionate nature make her an exceptional role model, creating an atmosphere of comfort and trust among staff.
Alice has been an integral part of the Miami Cancer Institute (MCI) since its inception, helping to lay the foundation for the Education Department. From the very beginning, she created the department’s educational template and has served as a guiding leader in all things MCI. When you do not know whom to call or the history behind something at MCI, you call Alice.

Alice is a natural leader who inspires her team and those around her through her dedication, professionalism, and passion for nursing education. She is the type of nurse that we all strive to be: ethical, honest, compassionate, and accountable.

Throughout her tenure at MCI, she has organized numerous impactful initiatives, including A Day in the Life of a Nurse, the Skills Fair, and many other community and educational events that have enriched both staff and patients.

A lifelong learner, Alice holds dual master’s degrees in nursing and management/health services administration, blending her clinical expertise with strategic leadership. She is also certified in Leadership and Orthopedic Nursing, reflecting her commitment to excellence and continuous professional development.

Her accomplishments have been recognized throughout the organization, as she has been honored multiple times as MCI’s Nurse of the Year, a testament to her outstanding contributions, compassion, and unwavering dedication to the nursing profession.

As a role model, Alice consistently identifies opportunities to enhance patient care through evidence-based practice. She has developed and maintained multiple education modules in the BHU system for both nurses and medical assistants, ensuring all content remains current and aligned with the latest standards of care.

She has continually developed new educational materials with an emphasis on the growth of our medical assistants. She takes great pride in the medical assistants in the building and all they do.

Alice is a strong advocate for professional growth, mentoring both licensed and unlicensed staff with patience, encouragement, and genuine care. She fosters an environment of learning through collaborative teamwork, empowering others to grow in their roles and achieve excellence. She has mentored several of the medical assistants in the building who are now nurses.

Her leadership extends across many institutional initiatives—serving as Chair and Co-Chair for several committees, including the Professional Development and Recognition Program (PDRP), Safe Patient Handling Council, and the Allied Health MA Scholars Program. She frequently presents at organizational committees and meetings, representing the nursing education team with professionalism and grace.

One of Alice’s greatest strengths is her ability to listen and collaborate. She approaches challenges with openness, seeking effective solutions that benefit the team and organization. Her approachable demeanor and compassionate nature make her an exceptional role model, creating an atmosphere of comfort and trust among staff.

With her many years of experience, Alice has mastered flexible teaching methods that meet diverse learning needs, leading to improved staff engagement, retention, and overall satisfaction. She provides feedback in a constructive and supportive manner, ensuring every learner feels valued and motivated to grow.

Alice truly embodies the spirit of the DAISY Nurse Educator: dedicated, compassionate, innovative, and inspiring. Her leadership and commitment to excellence continue to elevate nursing education and the culture of learning at MCI and across Baptist Health.

Alice is truly the historian for MCI.
