Alice assembled over 200 COVID swabbing kits in less than 2 days all while completing her other duties.
Alice demonstrates compassion by listening empathetically to the Veteran. She encourages the Veteran to voice all of their concerns. She graciously does what is best for the hospital and our Veterans and eagerly stepped up when asked to work from outpatient to inpatient during the COVID surge. She is a Veteran and understands what it is like to receive care in an organization as complex as the VA. She goes out of her way to make sure the Veterans are taken care of. She demonstrates leadership and takes initiative by respectfully voicing ideas for process improvements. She assembled over 200 COVID swabbing kits in less than 2 days all while completing her other duties.
On one occasion, the nurse who was scheduled to cover the swabbing was not able to do so because of exposure. She gathered supplies for the COVID swabbing bay and fulfilled the duties of swabbing as she recognized the need. Alice has also volunteered to relieve the COVID swabbing team as they were getting burned out. Additionally, she has sewed more than a dozen masks and donated them to dialysis for our Veterans. She works tirelessly to fill gaps in staffing and always provides exceptional care.
