Alice helps our own patients even after hours giving out her cell phone and helping them when not during business hours.
Alice 'Lee' Cashman, RN, WOCN has proven to be an instrumental and VITAL part of the Baptist-MD Anderson team. She is a resource utilized across all specialties not just at BMDA, but also at Baptist-Downtown and also South and Beaches. The following is just a quote from only 1 patient today:
“She's awesome, she's incredible! Cannot give her high enough praise for helping me adjust to my new life!”
We usually get several of these daily. I can tell you that I have received innumerable other very similar positive acclaims of just how precious and valuable and helpful and lifesaving Lee Cashman, RN is. She helps our own patients even after hours giving out her cell phone and helping them (and also our own colleagues and HomeHealth) when not during business hours. She gives patients their lives back and puts them in control of their stoma, as opposed to the other way around. She has been an instrumental lead (representing CRS) in many quality initiatives, most recently the ileostomy care pathway involving preop, perioperative/postop inpatient, and also postop home health management of patients with stomas in an effort to reduce hospital readmissions and improve quality and value care.
On a more 'professional' note, I cannot state enough just how integral Lee is to the success of the Colorectal and also Urology programs at BMDA. I cannot state how often I've been told how much patients love her. For these reasons above, I believe that Lee Cashman represents the true meaning/representation of a DAISY Award recipient.
