Alice has always been a diligent and caring Nurse, but she has taken it to new levels during the COVID-19 pandemic. On our floor, we unfortunately have had many patients on comfort care or hospice. Alice has been the Nurse for several patients who have passed away. I have watched Alice pour her heart and soul into taking care of these patients. She did everything she could to ensure that they were comfortable and pain free.
Alice communicated with the families and used the Bluejeans app so that they could say their goodbyes. She would use every free moment that she had to sit with the the patients and hold their hands. She even sang to them. Alice made sure to be present when every one of them took their last breath. I have seen so many acts of kindness and compassion during this time, but Alice stands out as truly deserving of a DAISY Award.
