I came into Mercy Clermont Hospital as a sick COPD patient, but they had to rule out COVID-19. I sat waiting over 48 hours and my test had not come back. I was going crazy, getting depressed, and frustrated. Being bipolar, my mental health was in jeopardy. My test did come back, but it was inconclusive after 48 hours. I needed re-tested!! I didn't think I could handle any more. I didn't say a word, but I believe the disappointment in my face said it all. Alice sprang into action and got me re-tested and the results within a few hours. When she opened my door, I knew I had to be negative, but I needed to hear her confirmation. She told me and I cried. What she did for my mental health meant more than she could ever know. I never complained, she just knew I was struggling so bad. I needed help and she got what I needed. She assisted my needs when I couldn't express what they were. She is a true nurse, especially in a terrible pandemic!! Every nurse that I had was fantastic, but Alice went over and above for me when she didn't have to. Keep reading your patient's eyes -- you are VERY good at it, Alice!! You are a true asset to Mercy Health!! Your kindness, caring, and willingness to go that extra step, and your love for your patients, shows in the professional job you do!!
