August 2024 Honoree
Alicia Boudreaux, RN
Alicia is the epitome of displaying compassion and inclusivity. Recently while rounding Alicia had an elderly and somewhat confused patient with her sitting at the nurses' station. The patient had been in the unit for quite some time and didn't like staying in her room alone. The patient seemed so content being included with the rest of the staff and Alicia. On a second occasion, Alicia had a wooden game at the nurses' station. When asked about it, she planned to play later with a patient who was lonely in her room because her mother had to leave for a period of time. Just yesterday we learned of another act of kindness and compassion. A patient who really wanted to visit the pirate museum in Lafitte was not able to do so. Alicia sent her sister to the museum which was closed to take photos and bring memorabilia to her. The Mayor opened the museum and did exactly as Alicia asked. I am told this patient was overjoyed and wearing articles from the Pirate Museum with an eye patch included. Alicia shows inclusivity in bringing the Medsurg and Telemetry staff together on a regular basis. When asked about her greatest accomplishment in 2023-her response was the Medsug team participated in the Halloween contest. Alicia is truly an inspiration and role model for the core values of compassion and inclusivity. She is a special person, nurse, and leader.
Thank you, Alicia, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
