It doesn't matter if she is in charge, the primary bedside nurse, or just walking by; she is always willing and ready to lend a hand.
There are so many reasons why she should be honored. It doesn't matter if she is in charge, the primary bedside nurse, or just walking by; she is always willing and ready to lend a hand.

When her patient was scared and overwhelmed in the middle of a rapid, with all of the team members coming in, in the middle of the night, she took the time to speak calmly with the patient and prepare her for the upcoming minutes. The connection that she made with that patient stayed with her during her entire cancer journey.

Another patient that she was able to connect with was a young patient who was sick and struggling with finding a positive light because he and his fiancée were supposed to get married. She helped them figure it out. She helped set everything up so they could have a wedding on our patio on 5 West, so they could just focus on his healing!

The last one that I think she needs to be recognized for is a patient who needed to have a strong advocate! They were lucky because they got her! In our jobs, we sometimes know the most likely outcome for a patient, no matter how great a support team they have. A patient had a poor prognosis and wanted to be comfortable, but the family wasn't ready. She used all of her knowledge and resources to help the family understand and advocate for the patient.

These situations can be tough because we, as bedside nurses, can look like we are giving up when really we are just trying to advocate for the best of our number one, our patients!

She is hands down one of the best nurses we have!
