Alicia was caring, compassionate, and had that intuition to understand when he had difficulty catching his breath, he may need a bit of medication to assist.
When my father-in-law took a turn for the worse, Alicia was the nurse who always seemed to be the main nurse caregiver in the room for his last three days during the day. She was caring, compassionate, and had that intuition to understand when he had difficulty catching his breath, he may need a bit of medication to assist. She was quick to explain what medication she gave that made him as not responsive as family had been used to in the earlier part of his stay.
Alicia explained the medical reasons in terms non-healthcare members of the family understood. She was always professional and polite at all times during his stay. When my father-in-law and family decided on comfort care, she made sure necessities were done by something as simple as using sponges to clean his mouth and simply checking on him consistently every hour. It is always difficult to watch a loved one leave this earthly world but to know we have such a caring compassionate staff caring for our family member is a huge comfort.
