Labor and Delivery RN Alicia Marchisio was witnessed displaying exemplary nursing care and support for a new mom who had just suffered the loss of twins. Alicia accompanied the new mom, along with several family members as they arrived from the MCH unit to the main lobby. There, the mom and family members were able to say a final goodbye to the twins during this very trying time.

Alicia continued to provide both physical and emotional support to all those present. This also included continuing to support the mom and family as they went to their car to depart, making sure they were all safe on their journey. During this time, Alicia demonstrated the utmost caring, compassion, and humankindness in her support of all those involved, even though the emotional toll on herself was obvious. This was done with dignity and demonstrated the finest values in the care of others in the nursing profession and the tradition of Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
