Alicia Voyatzis, RN, a member of the Cardiothoracic ICU, was honored with the DAISY Award for her exceptional care and compassion for a newborn patient and his frightened family when they arrived at Children's Hospital Los Angeles shortly after his birth.

Alicia was there to help them understand exactly what was happening, comforting and reassuring them every step of the way. She took the time to keep the parents up-to-date on their child's status, including staying after hours to continue caring for the patient, and talking to them about everyday things allowing them a sense of normalcy in a stressful situation.

Gratitude towards Alicia was expressed by the family, who called her "an angel in scrubs", for her dedication to their child's care.
