It was essential for Alie to carefully fit the cap on my head, not missing a single gap between the scalp line and the cap surface and ensuring that I was happy with it.
I was a triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patient who needed two cycles of chemotherapy that included 16 sessions. I chose to do cold capping during the treatments to reduce the physiological effect -- a vivid and constant reminder of a cancer diagnosis. As a petite female, the small size cold cap was a bit bigger for my head to fit, and the fitting is crucial during these chemo sessions as missing a spot might cause balding of certain scalp areas.

Allison (Alie) Howland was called on the first day of my infusion to help us teach and fit the cap. Alie quickly understood that my scalp shape and size were unsuitable for that cap and needed special care. From that day on, Alie was there for me for every treatment. It was essential for Alie to carefully fit the cap on my head, not missing a single gap between the scalp line and the cap surface and ensuring that I was happy with it. Alie was so devoted to helping me that she asked me to call her anytime I need her. For example, two times she was assigned lab work on a different floor but when I called her, she took the time to visit me and help me with the cold cap. Alie's presence made me feel at home during the treatments. It is not only her skills but also her diligence and making seamless efforts to help me that stood out to me.
