Ms. Washington's selfless heart, combined with her composed manner and knowledge, exemplifies what a well-rounded nurse is. She is a leader who is needed here in our community to help foster this exemplary caring attitude in our profession.
Nurse Washington has been a kind, caring, and skilled nurse manager through many transitions this year on our unit. We have had several nurses out on medical leave and she has covered multiple job duties and trained new nurses whenever needed, always with a smile and patience. We also accommodated several new services into our unit due to space limitations, and she has worked to re-organize space, fit all new staff and equipment into the space, and orient new staff members as needed. Throughout all these transitions, she has been a collaborative leader who keeps everything running smoothly.

RN Washington is a leader who shows by example through her selfless actions. She is always a leader whom staff feels comfortable turning to for advice, no matter what service or discipline. On one occasion, RN Washington jumped into action helping the patient and RN of a different service who was bleeding out post procedure. Rightfully, the patient was terrified. She was an immigrant who lived in a shelter, had a language barrier, and brought her three-month-old son, three-year-old daughter, and a sixteen-year-old neighbor to watch them during her visit. A simple visit became complicated due to a bleed needing operating room interventions. RN Washington ensured the patient received the materials to help minimize the bleeding, procured social services for transportation post recovery, and took time out of her schedule to supervise the underage children. RN Washington's selfless heart, combined with her composed manner and knowledge, exemplifies what a well-rounded nurse is. She is a leader who is needed here in our community to help foster this exemplary caring attitude in our profession.

Ms. Washington is an exceptional nurse. There was a situation in the clinic one day when what was supposed to be a regular procedure for a patient turned into an emergency. Although Ms. Washington was not the nurse working in that clinic, she really took control of the situation. The patient was bleeding so much that she had to be transferred to L&D. Ms. Washington helped the nurses working with that provider to stabilize the patient to be transferred, helped to calm her kids, who were constantly crying for their mom, and notified administration and social worker. She covered all her grounds in a swift and professional manner. Even though this is not unusual for Ms. Washington, this is the most memorable for me.
