We are so thankful to have had Alisha as our nurse on the hardest night of our lives. She helped make an unbearable thing a little bit better.
My husband and I went to the hospital to deliver our 34-week stillborn daughter, whom we learned a few days prior no longer had a heartbeat. This is our first child, and we went in to deliver her feeling very heartbroken over our loss and nervous about the delivery. All of our nurses throughout our hospital stay were amazing, but Alisha made a very big impact.

Alisha took over when her night shift started, and I was in a lot of pain from contractions. She took amazing care of me while I got my epidural and throughout the rest of labor. As many know, labor is not easy. As fewer people know, going through labor knowing your little one will not be crying as they arrive is a pain not felt in the body, but in the heart. A pain an epidural cannot take away. Alisha knew this. She provided me with endless support along with medical care.

After my sweet daughter was delivered, Alisha continued her incredible and respectful work. She helped us wash and dress her carefully, knowing her skin was very fragile. She spoke to her no differently than she would've if she were alive, saying things like "Hi, sweet girl," "Ready to go see daddy?", and "You are so beautiful" while taking care of her. She arranged for a chaplain to come baptize her late in the night.

Alisha and another nurse also took professional photos of her for us to remember her by. They went above and beyond, taking their time posing our sweet girl, changing backgrounds, and doing family photos of us. They made sure we had everything we wanted, knowing this was our only chance. They edited these photos, and we received 96 amazing photos that we will cherish forever. Our memories of our daughter will also be memories of our hospital stay, memories of Alisha, and how we were in such good hands.

We are so thankful to have had Alisha as our nurse on the hardest night of our lives. She helped make an unbearable thing a little bit better. We hope someday in the future we are able to have more kids and that we can have Alisha as our nurse again.
