Alisha was my first-semester clinical instructor for nursing school. It was a bit intimidating to begin patient care on a Med-Surg floor and take care of patients. My experience was not in hospital floor care. She recognized this and acknowledged my experience but also helped supplement my knowledge deficits in the hospital floor area. She was terrific at easing our group's fears and concerns. She promoted collaboration and opportunities for students to be exposed to different patient conditions and disease processes.

She was always willing to assist us with patient care or answer questions we may have had about a condition or medication. If she didn’t have the answer to a question she would always come back to us with an answer after she had followed up to get that information. Alisha also provided additional materials to enhance and build on our education and patient care resources. I felt completely confident that I could ask any question and she would take the time to answer and ensure I understood that answer. I truly believe that having Alisha as my first clinical preceptor has helped me develop my confidence and approach toward patient care in the hospital environment.
