Alisha has recently lost her father to cancer. Alisha served as the advocate, nurse, and daughter during his illness and proved to be an integral part of his death being one of dignity, respect, and love. This sets her apart in many ways, but she carries this also in her work in the ER. During this time, she showed her understanding of the difficult nature to make the decision for hospice and end of life care, with several patients. I personally witnessed her talking with three separate families as they faced this point. I especially want to recognize her tender care with V, when she arrived with the progression of her cancer. She was kind, gentle, and yet knowledgeable of the care she needed to provide. Also, she kindly sat down with J and her husband as they decided to step forward to hospice care. The ER department is known for its fast, immediate care. In these cases, Alisha was able to show another aspect of care and compassion that our patients deserve. She is a true DAISY Nurse.

Thank you, Alisha, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
