September 2024 Honoree
Alison Boggas, RN
Alison provided outstanding care to a dying patient in Ray ward. This young lady was very unwell, but medical teams hadn't identified that she was dying. Alison was brave and told her husband honestly that she felt she was dying. This enabled him to call their young children in just in time, and they were able to say goodbye, which would not otherwise have happened as she sadly died later that day. Alison showed bravery in her honesty, compassion, and excellent communication skills to be able to discuss this sensitively, and good palliative instincts to be able to recognise dying. She made an enormous difference to this family.
Thank you, Alison, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
