I wanted to take this opportunity to recognize Alison. Alison was scheduled to work last evening to complete her rounds for the Charge Nurse Academy.

Meanwhile, a sick child (3y/o seizures) presented to the Emergency Department was stabilized and needed to transfer quickly to St Louis Children’s. No air transportation was available due to the weather. Adams County Ambulance agreed to transport but highly suggested they would be more willing to transport if a nurse accompanied them. I approached Alison with the idea of transporting the patient. After discussing it with Alison, she agreed to do it. It was a blessing that she was willing to transport and that she was here tonight. I cannot express to you the relief that I, the charge nurse, and the family had that she was a pediatric nurse and would accompany the patient. Many, many, many thanks to Alison. She allowed us to get this sick kiddo to Children’s sooner rather than later. It was a very productive evening for the night shift in the Emergency Department.
