My father, 87 years old, had bladder surgery to remove a tumor. At the end of the procedure, he flat lined and was admitted to the ICU. Alison was his nurse not only the first day, but for a few days after that also. I cannot say enough how patient, attentive, understanding, and caring she was at all times. We are firm believers in being our own health care advocates so we ask a lot of questions to understand all medications, processes and measurements, an overall understanding of what is happening. Alison took the time to listen to us and explain everything. My father's pain was quite severe but came in unanticipated intervals. Alison worked with him to really manage the pain, not only through her fully understanding the medications the doctor made available, but also by getting him up and moving. Alison is an outstanding nurse and exemplifies excellence in nursing. She is truly in the right profession! Her ability to listen and really communicate options, what is happening, and timely calls to the doctor as needed, along with her caring nature, made her stand out!
