Alison Hammer, RN

During a shift on labor and delivery, when Alison Hammer was the charge nurse on the unit, anything that could go wrong did that day. Even on hard days, there is something to be said about how much the charge can shape how these days play out. Ali kept us all task-oriented but also paid close attention to the small details, making sure nothing was overlooked, even when we were all busy. She made us laugh, made sure that not only our patients were okay, but that we were okay as well. She never complained, even when her phone rang multiple times an hour, and when we would call for help, advice, or opinions, she never made us feel like a burden or that we were bothering her. Ali is an integral part of the success that occurs in our unit, and she makes us feel valued every time she works.
