When my father-in-law was admitted, our entire family was shocked to learn that he had two primary cancers growing in his body. It was overwhelming, terrifying, and completely unexpected.

During those first few days of uncertainty, Alison and the team were among the first people we encountered, and since then, Alison has become a constant and deeply meaningful presence in our lives.

From the very first time we met her, Alison made such an impression on us that we instantly welcomed her into our family. Her kindness, compassion, humor, and genuine care shine through in everything she does. She is not only exceptional at her job, but she goes far beyond the technical aspects of care. Alison takes incredible care of my father-in-law, but she also takes care of all of us. We are a big family, and most of the time there are eight of us in the room with him. She never makes us feel like we are too much or in the way. Instead, she meets us with patience, warmth, and understanding every single time.

Throughout this journey, Alison has been a constant advocate for my father-in-law. She listens, explains things in ways we can understand, and makes sure his voice and our family’s concerns are heard. In moments when everything felt overwhelming, Alison was someone we could rely on to guide us with both knowledge and compassion. I truly don’t think we would have made it through these past weeks the way we have without her.

What makes her even more remarkable is knowing that what we see is likely only a fraction of what she is doing behind the scenes for her patients every day. We are endlessly grateful for Alison. She embodies everything a nurse should be: compassionate, skilled, dedicated, and deeply human. Our family will never forget the impact she has had on us during one of the most difficult times in our lives.
