I have had the privilege of observing Alissa in the outpatient mental health clinical setting at the Pomeroy Addiction Center.
She was consistently engaged in supporting patients in a non-judgmental manner, which aided patients in self-exploration and the development of insight during group therapy sessions. By attending several sessions at various stages of their treatment, she offered her support through acceptance of the behaviors commonly seen in substance abuse.
She openly listened to clients' candid backgrounds, allowing them to share complex details of factors leading to relapse. Her reactions to stressors such as grief, family turbulence, and criminality were consistently professional. By actively listening to patients, she quickly developed professional therapeutic relationships with maturity that deserves recognition.
